What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Most commonly, ALS strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70.
The ALS Association
Established in 1985, The ALS Association is the only national non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.
The ALS Association has funded more than $99 million in research and clinical management projects.
They presently fund close to 100 active research projects.
Donations made up 14% of the ALS Association’s yearly revenue, at $3.6million.
How can YOU support this cause?
You may have by now seen Infinite member’s, Myungsoo, Sungyeol and Woohyun’s “ALSIceBucketChallenge” and, Sunggyu and Dongwoo to follow, having been nominated for the challenge. This campaign aims to raise awareness and funding for continued research into and support for those affected by ALS.
Sungyeol nominated Inspirits to take on this challenge. In response, we here at Inspirits of Oceania would like to accept this challenge, but also challenge YOU, our followers to help. Simply donate $1 or above by using the button below, and for every $200 raised, one admin will take on the Ice Bucket Challenge. All money raised will be donated to the ALS Association at the end of the donation period.
