Career

2010:First Invasion

In 2010, Infinite made their first appearance in a pre-debut reality show called You Are my Oppa which introduced the group to the public before making an official debut on June 9th. They released their first EP: First Invasion with singles “Come Back Again” and “She’s Back”

2011: Evolution, Over the Top and Japanese debut

On January 7, 2011, Infinite released their 2nd EP: Evolution and promoted the single Before the Dawn (BTD). Promotions concluded on Febuary 17, 2011 on Inkigayo.

Infinite released their first album Over the Top on July 21, 2011 along with the MV of their title track Be Mine. The MV teaser of their title track was released on their official website on July 15th followed by an album preview on the 20th. The group took home their very first win on M! Countdown on September 1, 2011 and achieved a “Double Crown” for two consecutive #1 wins on M! Countdown. The group then released Over the Top as a repackaged album with the title track “Paradise” on September 26, 2011. On October 13, 2011, Infinite took home their 2nd trophy on M! Countdown.

On January 26, 2011, Infinite unofficially debuted in Japan with their very first Japanese single To-R- Wa. After its release, their Evolution album ranked #3 on real-time charts for sales in Korea. The song even ranked #1 for ringtones on daily charts of the K-pop section of Japan’s top mobile websites. Infinite continued to release singles including She’s Back, BTD and Nothing’s Over before an official debut in Japan.  They release a Japanese version of BTD on November 19, 2011.

On December, 2011, they released a digital song for their first Christmas song “White Confession (Lately)”.

2012: Tours, Individual activities and INFINITIZE

On Feburary 11-12, 2012, Infinite held their very first Korean concert “Second Invasion” in front of 8,000 fans at Seoul Olympic Park. Tickets for the concert completely sold out within the first 10 minutes after being released online on December 14. Infinite is the first K-pop group to ever hold a live stream concert through Youtube.

  • On January 18th, Dongwoo made an appearance in Baby Soul and Yoo Jia’s single “She’s a Flirt”
  • L (Myungsoo) was casted in tvN’s TV drama Shut Up flower Boy Band which was aired on the 30th January.

On Apirl 18, 2012, “Be Mine” was released as a 2nd Japanese single which included a Japanese version of “Julia” which both peaked at #2 in Oricon Daily and Weekly Charts. In total, 54,218 copies were reportedly sold.

Infinite returned with a 3rd mini album INFINITIZE with the title track “The Chaser”. Before the official release, they released a single “Only Tears” on May 17, 2012. On June 14,2012, Infinite took home their first “Triple Crown” on M! Countdown for the “The Chaser which achieved a top spot on the charts for 3 consecutive weeks.

  • L was casted in the sitcom What is Mom which aired on October 8th, 2012 and Infinite sang the sitcom’s OST, Fantasy.
  • Sunggyu was given the opportunity to release a solo album. He pre-released “Shine” on the 6th of November and the full album, Another Me on the 19th November. L was featured in the MV of the title track 60 sec. Another Me topped the Hanteo chart and has sold 78,199 copies according to Gaon chart.

2013: Infinite H, New Challenge, Koi ni Ochiru, Destiny, Request, 1st World Tour: One Great Step

  • Infinite H consisting of Dongwoo and Hoya, made their debut as a subunit on January 10, 2013 with the mini album Fly High.
  • On March 21, 2013, the group returned with their fourth mini album New Challenge with “Man in Love” as the title track. During “Man in Love” promotions, Infinite won 7 awards.
  • On June 6, 2013, Infinite released their Japanese album, Koi ni Ochiru. The album ranked #1 on the Oricon’s album chart for the week of June 3-9 and approximately sold 69,647 copies.
  • On July 16, 2013, Infinite released their 2nd  Korean single Destiny. The group only promoted Destiny for about 3 weeks due to preparation for their upcoming 1st world tour. Destiny won 4 trophies in that short period of time.
  • Infinite announced their 1st World Tour: One Great Step. On August 9, 2013, kick started One Great Step in Seoul. The tour included 31 shows in Asia, North America, South America and Europe.
  • On September 26, 2013, Infinite released a non-album single “Request” (a Galaxy Song) as an endorsement for Samsung’s Galaxy series.
  • On November 22, 2013, despite their tight schedule, Infinite took time off from their world tour to attend MAMA ( Mnet Asia Music Awards) 2013 and it was their FIRST time attending MAMA since debut. The group were nominated in varies categories, but took home the “Best Male group” and “Sony MDR Worldwide Performer” award. It took them 3 years to be able to attend MAMA which makes their win even more meaningful.
